A ten course wine dinner is rare; usually it’s 5 courses which is plenty for my stomach. The last time I had one was in Hong Kong at Bo Innovation’s Chef table. But occasionally 10 courses do happen, and it is always a real treat. This time was at the Viu, St. Regis Bangkok. It was organized by St. Regis and fin wines. Arriving at the spacious dark toned dinning space reminded me of a classy venue one would expect from a 5 star hotel, when actually the Water Library is set at a shopping mall that is mostly tutor schools for high school students. Before we visited Gaggan(the chef and the restaurant uses the same name), We’ve experienced chef Gaggan’s cooking and hospitality before from RED. My experience from his cooking then was a good one. Passing by the Taksin BTS station, one of the dominant buildings I’d see is the Shangri la. I always wonder about this place. It occupies one of the biggest area alongside the Chaopraya River. It has one of the most hotel rooms in Bangkok. The best way to experience the Shangri-La is to stay here.
